Information Cakewalk collects

Cakewalk collects the information you provide for projects, estimates, accounts, and private conversations. This can include names, email addresses, mobile phone numbers, project details, photos, files, estimates, and messages. Cakewalk may also collect approximate city and state information for private service analytics; raw IP addresses are not stored for this purpose.

How information is used

We use this information to operate Cakewalk, save and display projects and estimates to the appropriate people, support private communication, prevent abuse, provide requested notifications, and maintain service records.

Mobile information and SMS consent

Mobile phone numbers and SMS consent information are never sold, and are not shared with third parties or affiliates for their marketing or promotional purposes. We share this information only with service providers that help us operate Cakewalk, such as our text-messaging provider (Twilio), and only as needed to deliver the messages you requested.

Homeowners and contractors can separately choose to receive transactional text messages about their account, projects, estimates, and messages. Message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to opt out or HELP for help. SMS consent is optional, unchecked by default, and is not a condition of purchase or required to post a project, submit an estimate, create an account, or use website messaging. See how text opt-in works.

When someone opts in, Cakewalk stores the consent time, the phone number, the related user, project and estimate identifiers, the form where consent was given, and the exact disclosure version shown. These records are kept to verify the request and protect the integrity of the messaging program.

Visibility and sharing

Public project pages show project information intended for contractors but do not show the homeowner's exact street address, email address, or phone number. Estimates and private conversations are limited to the appropriate participants and authorized administrators.

Your choices

You can use website messaging without agreeing to texts. You can stop Cakewalk text messages by replying STOP and request help by replying HELP. See the Terms of Service for additional messaging terms.
