Text message opt-in
How CakewalkBids (cakewalkbids.com) collects consent for transactional SMS.
How users opt in
CakewalkBids sends text messages only to people who affirmatively opt in on our website. Wherever a user enters a mobile phone number for texts, a separate checkbox appears next to it. The checkbox is unchecked by default, is optional, and must be checked by the user. Leaving it unchecked never blocks posting a project, paying, submitting an estimate, creating an account, or messaging on the website.
When a user checks the box, we record the date and time, the phone number, the user, the related project or estimate, the form where consent was given, and the exact disclosure shown. No texts are sent to a number without a matching consent record.
Where the checkbox appears
Each example below shows the disclosure exactly as users see it.
1. Contractors submitting an estimate
On any public project page (for example cakewalkbids.com/projects), a contractor fills out the estimate form, enters a mobile phone number in the contact section, and may check the box beneath it.
2. Homeowners posting a project
On cakewalkbids.com/post, in the final step directly above Payment, a homeowner may check the box and enter a mobile phone number.
3. Turning on texting in a conversation
Inside a private Cakewalk conversation, a homeowner can choose “Enable texting with this contractor,” enter a mobile number, and check the box.
Messages users receive
Transactional messages only: estimate confirmations, new-message notifications, forwarded project conversation messages, and scheduling or project follow-up. No marketing. Message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply.
Sample: “Cakewalk: Your $1,200 estimate was submitted. View/update: cakewalkbids.com/e/AbC123xYz9”
